Conservation hedge-laying workshop

FREE FOR CONTRACTORS, FARMERS, LAND MANAGERS AND OWNERS!
This free, day long workshop focuses on practical techniques for restoring overgrown hedges that resist browsing by stock and deer, reducing the need for additional fencing. It also explains what financial support is available.
Developed with Brightling Environment Group and High Weald National Landscape, the workshop covers three approaches combining traditional and non traditional hedgelaying, coppicing and deadhedging. The techniques suit a range of hedge types, and attendees can try them in practice* and learn about relevant grants. The programme includes:
• Conservation hedgelaying, led by Nigel Adams, Vice Chair of the National Hedgelaying Society.
• Deadhedgelaying, led by Etchingham based conservationist Rich Farran.
• South of England hedgelaying, led by Beth Palmer and Sarah Litchfield.
• Lunch of local wild venison burgers*, plus tea, coffee and soft drinks.
• Grant advice from High Weald National Landscape.
• Inspection of an 80 m stretch of recently laid and wattled mixed native hedging.
