BioBox Loan Scheme

Supporting community groups and landowners to survey local wildlife and support nature recovery along the Weald to Waves corridor.

About the BioBox Loan Scheme

The BioBox Loan Scheme is an exciting hands-on way for landowners, community groups, and local projects to engage with and monitor wildlife on their land.
Each BioBox is packed with essential ecological survey equipment, from bat detectors to pond nets, tracking tunnels to moth traps. Whether you’re exploring your back garden, local green space, woodland edge, or farmland margins, you’ll be contributing valuable data that helps protect and restore nature across the Weald to Waves corridor.

Why Is It Important To Monitor Wildlife?

By submitting your wildlife sightings, you help us:

  • Engage communities – connecting people with the nature on their doorstep

  • Map biodiversity – revealing where species are thriving and where support is needed

  • Guide conservation efforts – informing how and where we focus our work

  • Track change over time – identifying trends and measuring the impact of habitat restoration

What do we do with the data?

Your wildlife records help us build a clearer picture of how species are using the corridor and where habitats are thriving or in need of help.

We ask that you upload your survey results to iRecord, using the dedicated Weald to Waves activity page. iRecord is a national platform used by conservation organisations, researchers and local authorities to verify and share wildlife records. Your data contributes to real conservation outcomes.

  • Use the Weald to Waves activity page to submit your sightings

  • Add as much detail as you can including species, location, date and photos are all helpful

🔒 Data Privacy & Land Use

We understand that sharing records from your land can feel sensitive. Your records:

  • Will not result in statutory land designations

  • Can remain private or hidden from public maps if you choose

Register for a BioBox

To borrow a BioBox, you’ll need to be a member.
To register your interest, please visit the Resources page in the Members Area. We try to get boxes out to as many people as we can, but we do have to prioritise the requests that will have the biggest impacts for nature. For questions, feel free to contact us at:

Collaborative Effort

The success of our BioBoxes has been thanks to our amazing partners, who have contributed their expertise and resources to the scheme. Without them, nature recovery on a landscape scale would not be possible.
